The recent substantial growth in locally incorporated funds has come about after the enactment of the Financial Services (Experienced Investor Funds) Regulations 2005. These regulations allow experienced investors to establish funds in Gibraltar without going through the normal rigorous licensing process for a fund. Provided the fund and investors satisfy certain criteria, the regulation of the fund is more relaxed and less costly. Such funds are also currently exempt from any taxation on profits.
